WorkRemote attends Web Summit: Dual Sponsorship from the Philippine Embassy and Startup Portugal

We are thrilled to share the success of our participation, made possible through the generous support of both Startup Portugal’s “Road to Web Summit” program and the Philippine Embassy.

Our journey at Web Summit was nothing short of exhilarating, as WorkRemote took the stage in the esteemed Alpha Programme, presenting during the Startup Showcase and 40words. Being among the select startups showcased at this globally renowned event allowed us to highlight the unique features and mission that define WorkRemote – a platform dedicated to the global advancement of remote work.

A Filipino-founded Startup on the Global Stage

As a Filipino-founded startup, the pride of representing the Philippines on the global stage was a defining moment. Led by our visionary founder, June Bolneo, and Co-founder Pedro Nave, the duo attended Web Summit for the first time as representatives of WorkRemote. Their enthusiasm and commitment to the company’s mission were evident as they navigated the bustling ecosystem of Web Summit, making meaningful connections and contributing to discussions on the future of remote work. This inaugural experience at Web Summit marked a significant milestone for WorkRemote, showcasing our dedication to innovation and the global advancement of remote work. WorkRemote stands not only as a champion of remote work but also as a symbol of diverse leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Dual Sponsorship from Startup Portugal and the Philippine Embassy

In addition to the sponsorship from the Philippine Embassy, WorkRemote was honoured to be accepted into the “Road to Web Summit” program by Startup Portugal. This dual sponsorship not only highlights the significance of our mission but also underscores the global recognition of our contributions to the remote work ecosystem.

Female Leadership and Bootstrapping to Success

Leading WorkRemote is June Bolneo, our visionary founder, leading with determination and resilience. We highlighted our bootstrapping journey to profitability, showcasing the strength that comes from overcoming challenges. WorkRemote stands not only as a champion of remote work but also as a symbol of diversity and female empowerment.

Web Summit provided a platform for invaluable connections and collaborations. Our team forged key relationships that will contribute significantly to the growth of WorkRemote. Whether through partnerships, collaborations, or engaging conversations with other startups, industry leaders, and investors, the summit was a catalyst for new opportunities.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of H.E. Ambassador Celia Anna Feria and the Philippine Embassy. Their support played a pivotal role in our successful participation at Web Summit, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for their assistance in making this journey a reality.

As we reflect on the achievements and highlights of WorkRemote at Web Summit 2023, we look ahead with excitement. This is just the beginning of our journey to empower remote work globally, and we invite you to join us in shaping the future of work.
